What in the World?! It’s Been So Long…

Where have you been? What have you been up to? Haven’t heard from you in forever!

How many people have you said these things to in the past year (or 2 at this point)? Or how many have said them to you? I have been where most of you have been really… at home asking the same question that many of you have been asking “will things ever get back to normal?!”

I have quarantined and isolated, worked from home, gone back to in-person work, checked the numbers (of positive cases in the state) daily, worn a mask, washed my hands, sanitized surfaces, socially distanced, been part of a couple of on-going group chats, “Zoom”ed for every type of meeting and occasion known to man, and watched intently as the life I’ve known for over 40 years has become something practically unrecognizable. You know… the same things that all of you have been doing for the past 2 years. What I haven’t done is publish a blogpost…

Believe me, I have attempted to do it. I have about 20 unpublished posts in my drafts (most unfinished), but I haven’t. Not long after my last post in 2019, I had the most amazing international experience during an international convention right here in my state. Right after, I had the most defeating experience as I returned to teach in a school fulltime after 2 years of trying to push outside of the classroom. Who knew that by the following March everything would shut down and be turned upside down. (I have since been fully convinced that the timing of my going back into the classroom fulltime was no mere coincidence. Holy spirit was fully at work. I have no doubt.)

So, the days of sitting in a cafe typing a post on my laptop went away for many obvious reasons. Talk about lack of motivation and lack of inspiration…

Some great things have happened since 2019 too though… I’ve figured out a lot. Sitting in the house for days on end can have that effect πŸ™‚ I have become a better version of my old self in a lot of ways (though I’m definitely still a work in progress). So, now that I’m staring 43 squarely in the face (2 more weeks to go), I thought it might be time to reload this blog, revamp and refresh. Oh, and post some of those drafts that have been gathering dust in addition to some of my newer musings.

Perhaps once per week…

Let’s start with 2 times per month and see where it goes πŸ™‚ (Hey, Rome wasn’t built in a day. I’ve learned to set reasonable goals in the past couple of years. Be proud of me :))
